ERBC’s rowers took part in the first of 2 sessions with Action Mental Health’s Rosie Maguire on Saturday. The sessions coincide with World Mental Health Day which takes place on Thursday, 10th October. The theme this year is Preventing Suicide, the suicide statistics for N Ireland are shocking, especially among young men. The Boat Club want to equip their young rowers with the tools to recognise stress in themselves and their friends, to let them know that it is ok to have a bad day, that there is always someone to talk to whether that is a friend, a family member, a coach, a teacher or an agency such as Childline. Saturday’s session, Provoking Thought was for the younger rowers with next Saturday’s, Mindset programme for those rowers aged 14 and over.
