This week’s entries to the Celebration Gallery demonstrate some of the fantastic work and independent learning being done by ERGS pupils as they remain in lockdown but keen to keep their learning going. Don’t worry if your work isn’t included this week as teachers have been sending through all kinds of material that we will keep uploading over the coming days and weeks.
This week Year 8 were learning about the Fibonacci Sequence and how it frequently appears in nature. The sequence is 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89, 144… and so on. They had to go out and find a Fibonacci number in nature, either by counting petals or spirals. We had some fascinating results.
Well done to Harry Fallis who found Fibonacci number 89 on a flower…sadly however, the flower didn’t survive!” Well done to all. – Miss McKeown.
Year 8 have been busy studying Acids and Alkalis in Science. They were given the task of drawing the pH Scale showing examples of substances for each pH number. Fantastic work! – Miss Curran

Year 8 student, Ben Shaw, has been very busy baking this week. He has created a fantastic array of sweet treats, which include: chocolate chip cookies, vanilla scones and a variety of chocolate cupcakes. Some examples of good work from Year 10 Drama. All the Year 10 classes were due to perform their version of a Shakespeare play this year in our ‘Shake it up Shakespeare’ Drama Festival but unfortunately these performances had to be cancelled. Here is an excellent example of a question decoding exercise by Year13 Chemist Emily Nicholson. This technique used by our Post 16 Scientists helps them to determine what a specific and often complicated question is actually asking them and how they can then construct and answer the fulfils the assessment criteria at the top level – Dr Wilson
