Excellent Work Celebration Gallery, 5th March 2021

    By Enniskillen Royal | Latest News | Comments are Closed | 5 March, 2021 | 2

As we end week 8 of Lockdown 2 and as we start the push to Easter when we are ‘hopeful’ that we will be back in school, pupils, staff and parents have continued to impress with their engagement in the remote learning experience- Well done everyone!

Drama Character Masks for The Tempest by Charlie Cairns, Emma Bullock, Jasmine Carrothers, Jake Elliot, Connor Johnston, Finlay Vance, Oliver McNeary, Riley Noble, Laura Ricthie, Madeleine Schwartz, Sarah Speer, Matthew Wilson Year 8E. – Mrs McDowell

8C Frisbee Challenge video  – testing their Frisbee construction and quality and having a bit of fun at the same time – Mr McDevitt

    Where’s Your Head At?

Through our pastoral provision we, as a school, continued to focus on our pupils’ wellbeing as a follow on from Children’s Mental Health Week at the beginning of February.  We set a challenge, ‘Where’s Your Head At?’ where our pupils were encouraged to wear a hat (that expressed their feelings) to virtual Tutor or PD Time.  While wearing their hat, they were encouraged to talk about their feelings and strategies to help them overcome or resolve any negative thoughts.  Prizes are on their way to Jason Little (8A), Beth Hutchinson (8B), Alexandra Liddle (8B) and Ruby Moore (8B) for embracing the challenge so positively and enthusiastically.  Great hats – thank you! Mrs Kettyle

8A HE Pupils  have been learning about how to use the grill and produced some tasty looking mini muffin Pizzas – here are some delicious examples by Louie, Abbey and Shane – Mrs Donald

8C did a virtual tour of the Royal Ulster Academy Art Exhibition before selecting and analysing a few of their favourite paintings. Pupils focused on colour in their analysis to link with their current practical work. – here are some great examples  from Luchia, Hughie, Iona, Lin and Alfie P – Mrs Shaw

Across Key stage 3 we have seen some fantastic responses to the French Challenge including culinary expertise, film posters and model making – Un travail absolument excellent – Mr Bersot

A great turnout by the U12 Rugby Squad at Friday’s online ‘live’ circuit training. Some questionable music choices by Mr B but great a effort from all the boys – Mr Beddard

Year 9 Science students have started a new topic looking at the elements in the Periodic Table. They were given the opportunity to research an element of their choice and present in the form of a poster or PowerPoint. Here are some examples of their excellent research and presentation! – Miss Curran

Yr9 Element Research Poster GalleryYear 10 Historians were asked to write a response to a quote from Donald Trump where he claimed that the USA “won two world wars”.  They had to explain whether they agreed or disagreed with Trump’s claim.  I have attached a piece of excellent History work from Kyle Cadden in 10C.  Kyle’s work is excellent because he has included an excellent level of detail and he has developed a very strong argument in his response. – Mr McMahon

Miss Wynne was very impressed with the effort made by James Mongan in 10D regarding his video on how to make chocolate chip muffins. Not only did James demonstrate a fantastic array of practical skills but he also showcased his ability to create and edit a video!! A job very well done, James. Keep up the fantastic work!! –Miss Wynne

10E Art pupils continue to explore the them of photography – this week’s example looks at the idea of light and shade – Ms Stephenson

    10E Light and Shadow Gallery

At the beginning of lockdown, Miss Mulligan’s Yr12 English were tasked with the challenge of working on an independent project. They were asked to form newspaper/ magazine groups and  to organise and coordinate the production of a magazine. The task required pupils to refine their organisational skills along side their writing and creative skills in order to complete the task . here is a superb example of the finished product – ‘Lockdown Living’ by Rachel Stewart, Edith Mitten, Jessica Hogg and Sophia Williams  – Miss Mulligan.

    Lockdown Living- Edition 1

Abi McMullan in year 12 has displayed her outstanding creativity skills by designing her own Afternoon Tea Boxes which consist of a variety of homemade goodies! An amazing accomplishment for a year 12 student. We are so very proud of you! – Miss Wynne

Three pieces of excellent Government and Politics work from Blake Graham, James Hurst and Emma Kerr in Year 13.  These pieces of work are excellent because the students have included an excellent range of points, they have included an excellent range of examples and they have successfully examined both sides of the argument.  – Mr McMahon

    Blake Graham G & P Excellent Work
    James Hurst G & P Excellent Work

Year 13 Technology & Design pupils have been practicing product design questions from wall brackets for hair dryers to stands that prevent warning triangles from falling over in windy conditions. Erin Straume produced excellent responses for both design briefs – Mr McDevitt

Year 14 German students researched a German charity this week as part of their work on poverty, and presented their findings during a live lesson. – Mrs Donald

Having studied a set poem Yr14 English Literature Students each used my template to process the ideas presented and collate the key ideas and information on one page demonstrating higher level thinking skills and understanding. here are some examples by Anna Moore, Emily Stewart and Alexander Johnson  – Miss Mulligan

I’m sure you will agree that despite the obvious challenges posed by COVID, the quality of work on display ,which represents a small cross section of the learning and engagement across school, is testament to the tremendous efforts of the teachers and young people in our school community.
