Excellent Work Celebration Gallery, 12th March 2021

    By Enniskillen Royal | Latest News | Comments are Closed | 12 March, 2021 | 2

As we end week 9 of Lockdown 2 and as we start the push to Easter when we are ‘hopeful’ that we will be back in school, pupils, staff and parents have continued to impress with their engagement in the remote learning experience- Well done everyone!

Here is another excellent selection of Cell Models by Year 8 Scientist demonstrating creativity and great practical skills – Mrs McKenzie

8A HE were developing their practical skills in Home Economics this week by using the hob to make a hot milky drink. Their presentation and photography skills were also in practice! Here are some photos from Emily Black, Luke Miller, Oliver Harte and Shane Evans – Mrs Donald

Earlier in the term our Yr14 A2 Sports Science Girls challenged year 8 to compete in a Inter-house Toilet Roll Sports Day. The uptake was impressive and the outcome saw Cuilcagh as winners, followed by Benaughlin in second, Trien in third and Belmore forth. Here are just a few highlights. – Lucy Thompson Yr14  (Deputy Head Girl)

Year 8 Geographers have been working in groups to decide whether the Lakelands Leisure Park development should go ahead or not. Their research required them to source facts and figures to support their arguments and develop them. They debated live in their Breakout rooms demonstrating some excellent debating skills of active listening and rebuttal. Well done to those who have delivered this week. More to follow next week! – Ms Goodman

Miss Wynne simply couldn’t decide who deserved to be awarded this week’s Chef of the Week’ in 8D. She decided to award joint first place to Lily Mc Farland and Joshua Ihnat for the vast array of culinary delights that they have created over the last few weeks. Lily decided to make various dishes such as: Chicken Tikka Masala, Scones and Flapjacks, with Joshua creating many highly skilled dishes, such as: Crepes, Oat Protein Balls and Pizza. A very impressive array of dishes and skills displayed by both students. Keep up the excellent effort! – Miss Wynne

9E Art have been researching Chinese, Venetian and African masks and this week they had the opportunity to draw or paint their favourite mask. The level of detail and accuracy they achieved in their studies is excellent – Mrs Shaw.

Here are 3 super examples of project work completed in RE during Lockdown – Laura Ritchie 8E considers the issue of Solvent Abuse, Daniel Rowsome 9C the ethics of Environmental Stewardship and Ben Foster 10B the Power of Prayer. Well done everyone – Miss Strong

Well done to Sarah Speer 8E who interviewed her Dad, Granny & Grandad about how Enniskillen has changed, as an extension to her Settlement Change work in Geography . It is a very interesting read. – Mrs Armstrong

9C Technology completed their Bottle Car Racers at home using recycled materials. The bottle was cut to house the electronic circuit which they also made at home. They got experience of making the circuits and learnt about the components used to power the car. A job well done!! Mr McDevitt

10B Art captured some striking photographs within the theme of ‘Light and Shade’ as their Photography project draws to a close. belwo you can hen click on the link to View a similar Gallery for 10C – Mrs Shaw & Ms Stephenson

Mrs Armstrong’s Year 11 LLW group are steadily improving their ‘Jamboard’ skills and enjoyed participating in a Thinking Skills Activity in their breakout groups this week. They had to choose which Human Rights were most important to their group and then rank them using the ‘Diamond Nine’ method. They are to be commended for their active participation in lessons.  –Mrs Armstrong

Yr10 Chemists have been looking at metal reactivity and were tasked with inventing a phrase that would help them remember the Reactivity Series – Ewan Mackie is understandably concerned about the behaviour of the crocodiles in the Chemistry department – Dr Wilson

Year 11 Moving Image Arts pupils were required to shoot footage for a short film sequence based on a script provided by CCEA. Oliver Knew and Ruta Guobyte successfully planned their shots to enable a continuity edit and used a variety of appropriate camera framing, movement and positioning to create meaning.

Also, well done to all the year 11 Moving Image Arts class for their input to the GCSE MIA options presentation. As part of a recorded Google Meet lesson, pupils assumed the role of a film professional as a way of highlighting the many and diverse roles within the industry. The full presentation is available on the school website.

Year 13 German students collated advantages and disadvantages of watching television on a shared Jamboard in their live lesson this week. – Mrs Donald

Year 13 Geographers have been using their time remotely to develop their essay writing skills. In this live lesson, they used Jamboard to collect their initial thoughts on the content and then worked collaboratively on an exemplar piece identifying what was good and adding improvements through highlighting, adding comments and changing text colour. Several brains are definitely better than one and they were left with a very detailed exemplar piece from which to construct their own essay response. Well done! Ms Goodman

As a special end to this week’s gallery, we thought we would share a piece of brilliant independent work and creativity by 8D pupil Joshua Ihnat. Over the last 3 years  Joshua has been inventing and working on a comic book character called ‘Piggy Person’ and during lockdown has had a chance to develop his ideas and his character even more, receiving positive professional encouragement and feedback from a London based publisher. Episode 1 has just been completed and printed professionally and with 7 more episodes in the pipeline, who knows where this could go….fantastic Joshua !! – Miss Armstrong
