With both squads having 28 players available this week the U13s split into A and B sides.
The U13Bs took to the pitch with confidence starting strongly with impressive running and rucking soon leading to an initial score by back row Lucy. Scrum half Rowland lead from the front not afraid to get stuck in and soon awarded with his own score to compliment Lucy’s second and a strong and determined finish by centre Donaghy. In the second half the Rainey side did start to make a comeback and exploited the lack of tackling in defence by the ERGS boys. On 3 occasions Rainey’s wider distribution through the hands allowed them to go round a straggled defence leading to a solid second half come back. All in all a good game of rugby from both sides ending in well deserved draw at 20-20.
Man of the Match Felix Rowland.
A great team effort by the entire U13As team produced a convincing victory. The team scored six first half tries which were all the result of strong ball carrying and quick ruck ball, putting the wide players away in space. Impressive tackling throughout the game kept the Rainey team from having any scoring opportunities. Final score 35-0.
