The under 16 football team travelled to Crossgar today (Tuesday) to play against St Patricks Academy Downpatrick in the first round of the NISFA Schools Cup. St Patricks started the game well and quickly went 3 -0 up. ERGS scored before half time when Ethan Abercrombie slotted the ball home at the back post from an Ethan Bryne corner and an Adam Cathcart flick on.
ERGS had a lively start to the second half with Callan Kelly doing well down the left beating his marker to slot home from a narrow angle to make it 3-2. Unfortunately there was to be no comeback as St Patricks extented their lead soon after, eventually winning 5-2.
The boys will now enter the plate competition and we wish them well for their future matches.
