From September 2026, the Department of Education is offering generous financial support for students pursuing a Post-Primary Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) at Stranmillis
and St Mary’s University Colleges in subjects with teacher shortages.

ELIGIBILITY AND COMMITMENT
All Northern Ireland students enrolled the B.Ed courses in these subjects will be eligible
for the bursary. All bursary recipients will be expected to teach in publicly funded
schools in Northern Ireland for a minimum of two years after qualifying.
HOW DO I APPLY?
There is no need for a separate application for the bursary. Simply apply for the
relevant courses at Stranmillis or St Mary’s University College.
