Year 13 and Year 14 pupils attended a special assembly today where they received important information on how they could potentially save a life.
We were delighted to welcome our very own, Mrs McIntosh, who spoke on behalf of DKMS, an international stem cell charity whose mission is to fight blood cancer and blood disorders by finding matching stem cell donors for patients in need. Pupils learned about the life-changing impact of stem cell donation on Mrs McIntosh’s sister, and how simple it is to register as a potential donor.
The 17–25 age group is particularly important for donor registration, making this message especially relevant for our senior pupils.
We are pleased to highlight that there will be a DKMS donor drive at South West College on Tuesday 3rd February, which pupils may avail of if they want to become more involved.
This was a powerful and informative assembly, reinforcing how our young people can make a real difference beyond the classroom.
