ScreenWorks, funded by the Department for Communities through Northern Ireland Screen and delivered by Into Film, is an exciting scheme to help young people in Northern Ireland aged 14-19 learn more about careers in the screen industries through hands-on work experience opportunities.
Year 12 Moving Image Arts pupil Lily Shaw writes about her experience;
‘In January, I was fortunate enough to be accepted into a ScreenWorks course for TV & Film production. As somebody interested in the TV industry, I found this experience extremely useful. It was a fantastic opportunity to meet with an industry professional, which I and a small group of others were given direct access to over the three day course. We were urged to explore different careers within the film industry, and were given incredible insight into how each of them work. The producer involved, Margaret McGoldrick, was extremely helpful and lovely. I would absolutely recommend ‘Into Film’s ScreenWorks’ programmes for anybody interested in Moving Image Arts or the industry as a whole. Although it’s a bit of a distance, the experience was one I will never forget. From meeting people with similar interests to being able to pitch my own film ideas to a local producer, it was a new and extremely exciting experience.’
