Enniskillen Royal Grammar School opened its doors on 1st September 2016 as a new academically selective voluntary grammar school, following the amalgamation of its legacy schools Collegiate Grammar School and Portora Royal School. Over the past decade it has developed into a thriving co-educational and non-denominational school community with an enrolment of over nine hundred pupils who enjoy and grow holistically through the ERGS experience, unique in its breadth and depth of curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular provision.
We currently operate across a split site as we eagerly anticipate our new build in the imposing setting of the Lough Shore site which will see the refurbishment of our iconic listed buildings together with the construction of our carefully planned new building with its state-of-the-art facilities. Our senior pupils in Years 12-14 are based on our Cooper Crescent site and in Autumn 2025, our decant saw our junior pupils in Years 8-11 move from the Lough Shore site to the extensively refurbished Algeo Drive site as a pivotal part of our new build process which is now entering its final stage.
We are delighted to see our new build move ever closer. However, as we reflect on our recent decant and the ease with which our pupils have adapted to their new sites, it is abundantly clear that the real strength of our school is not defined by place or building; it lies in our relationships with each other, in our shared values and distinct ethos which allows ERGS to stand out among its peers in terms of the high quality and unique educational experience we offer to the young people of Fermanagh and Tyrone.
