The Enniskillen Royal Grammar School U18 boys football team progressed to the third round of the N. Ireland Cup yesterday, Wednesday 26th October, after beating NRC Coleraine 3-1. The boys put in a very strong performance against an aggressive, ill-disciplined Coleraine side, keeping their cool and letting the ball do the talking for them. Jake Browne opened the scoring early on with a sharp finish after a defensive error by the Coleraine keeper, and substitutes Timothy Coulter and James Johnston added two more in the second half, with Timothy putting the ball into the back of the net with his first touch. Although the U18s were excellent to a man, special praise should be given to Sam Lindsay, who put in a superb captain’s performance, driving ERGS forward from midfield, and Simon Warrington, who terrorised Coleraine down the left flank, giving the Coleraine right back a torrid time the entire game. There were also impressive debuts by Curtis Coalter, who caused problems up front for the Coleraine defence all day, and Luke Johnston, who made some impressive and important stops in goal. A great result and performance!
