ERBC had 38 crews competing at Athlone Regatta at Cossan Point on Saturday and they won a fantastic 10 categories and came 2nd in 11 others.
There were wins for both J16 4X+ crews with Abbey Wilson (cox) Lorcan Sreenivasan, Andrew Cuthbertson, Charlie Lynn and Jake Sembhi had the first win of the day over Carrick Rowing Club, CRCC and Athlone Boat Club.
Errie Powell, Ben Cameron. Eoghan Campbell, Bruno Maguire Favro and Jamie Dunlop weren’t going to be outdone and they crossed the finish line ahead of the crews from Colaiste Iognaid and Galway Rowing Club.
The Boys Junior 14 Octuple A crew were unlucky to be beaten by the boys from St Joseph’s in their final.
There was also a second-place finish for the Girls Junior 14 4X+ A crew of Milena Remedios (cox) Eva Fowler, Aimee Turner, Penny Huddlestone and Flavia Remedios behind the A crew from Castleconnell BC.
In the WJ15 4X+ there was a very convincing win for the A crew, National Schools Regatta Champions, Rachel Cathcart (cox) Tori Davis, Emily Black, Abbie McCarthy Magwood and Brooke Davis over the crews from Athlone RC and Carrick RC. The B crew ErriePowell, Grace Collins, Aoibhín Campbell had to settle for 2nd place behind the girls from Neptune RC.
The Boys J16 8+ Abbey Wilson (cox) Christian Timoney, Lorcan Sreenivasan, Cillian Donaghy, Andrew Cuthbertson, Charlie Lynn, Joshua Ihnat, Harley Sheppard and Jake Sembhi were delighted to win their first race of the season over the boys from Methody.
Both the boys J13 4X+ had to settle for 2nd place finishes in their races and so did both Girls J16 quads.
The next win of the day came from the Girls J14 8X+ A crew Milena Remedios (cox) Eva Fowler, Clodagh Donaghy, Aimee Turner, Penny Huddlestone, Leah Topping, Freya McNeary, Madeleine Curran and Flavia Remedios.
MJ14 4X+ A crew, Abbey Wilson (cox), Oliver Jennings, James McAleer, Joel Crean and Harry Welsh won their final over Coleraine GS while the B and C crews both took second place in their races.
The Boys J15 4X+ Errie Powell (cox), Cillian Donaghy, Joshua Ihnat, Matthew Montgomery, Olie Powell finished ahead of the boys from Athlone BC.
Jamie Dunlop and Ben Cameron were unlucky to be beaten by Lee RC in the MJ16 2X.
The Girls J16 8+ Rachel Cathcart (cox), Tori Davis, Emily Black, Sienna Howe, Hannah Armstrong, Meabh Murphy, Abbie McCarthy Magwood, Mya Morris, Brooke Davis won over the girls from Colaiste Iognaid.
The boys J13 4X+ A crew, Grace Collins (cox) Noah Corrigan, George Elliott, Harry McCreery and Finlay Bell took the win from Colaiste Iognaid A.
WJ14 1X Aimee Turner won over the sculler from Castleconnell BC to bring the days tally to 10 wins.
Next up for ERBC’s Junior rowers is Rowing Ireland’s 1K Classic at Lough Rynn on Saturday, 29th June while both the boys and girls first Eights are racing at Cork Regatta at National Rowing Centre this Sunday ahead of the Irish Rowing Championships from 12th – 14thJuly.
