Year 8 were focusing on the topic of Seasonal Cooking last week in Home Economics and got the chance to make Chocolate Apples providing them with the opportunity to reinforce prior learning from the previous week when they developed the skill of melting chocolate using a Bain Marie. As well as developing their practical cooking skills, they were able to further strengthen their ability to work as a team and demonstrate their individuality and creativity in decorating their Chocolate Apples. Leah Topping and Harry Knight’s decorated apples were voted first and second respectively by their peers which allowed Year 8(5) to use and see the value of peer evaluation in progressing their own learning through identifying the strengths and suggested improvements in others’ work.
