On Friday 1st March the school Brass Band performed as part of the ‘Brass in Concert 2019’ event at the Valley Hotel in Fivemiletown, organised by the Brass Band League of Northern Ireland. This concert was attended by a number of local non-competing Brass and Silver bands including Ballyreagh Silver, Churchill Silver and Tempo Silver Bands. The finale of the concert was then performed by the Championship standard Murley Silver Band from Fivemiletown who were also competing in the main contest day on Saturday 2nd March.
Enniskillen Royal Grammar School Band was directed by Mr Stephen Magee and Principal of the band this year is Rachael Fyffe. The band played four contrasting pieces including Harlem Rag March, A Quiet Moment, Brass Street and a jazz classic Puttin’ on the Ritz. The band performed to an excellent standard and was very well received by the large audience. Overall the event was a great success and provided much entertainment at the start of a festival of brass weekend culminating in a range of competitions on Saturday 2nd. Well done to all involved!
