A little over confident ERGS U13 team took to the pitch at Castle Lane this week. From the start, weak tackling and poor rucking quickly resulted in conceding an unconverted try.Armagh counterrucked us repeatedly and we made hard work of getting out of our own half. Some superb individual performances, particularly by Love, Aiken and Smyton gained us valuable field position. However, poor passing and inexcusable knock-ons lost us possession again and again. Eventually Cameron Aiken thundered through between the posts, successfully converted by Hamill.
The second half was a poor display of discipline by the ERGS side Coach Hamill counted 22 penalties conceded!
Nevertheless, somehow this team found enough to squeeze another two tries from Aiken and Smyton without allowing Armagh to score.
While this result was pleasing, there is alot to be worked on for next week, our first away match.
