Year 10 students attended a talk given by Eva Clarke who is a Holocaust survivor. This seems most appropriate as the following day is Holocaust Memorial Day. Students at Enniskillen Royal study the Holocaust but hearing Eva’s story personalised this terrible period in history. Eva was born on 29th April 1945 in the back of a cart on the outskirts of Mauthausen concentration camp. She told the group that Mauthausen had run out of poisonous gas the day before and a few days later the war ended. We would like to thank Catherine Scott from Enniskillen Castle Museum for organising this event.
