It has been a very busy and often strange couple of months at ERGS, but despite the disruption pupils and staff are coping admirably with the ‘New Normal’ of virtual and blended learning. Here are just a few examples of the outstanding work pupils have been producing through the months of October and November – Well done everyone!!
To mark ‘World Kindness Day’ earlier in the month we set year 8 the challenge of performing some random acts of kindness towards their friends and families – the results were Great!! – Mr McDevitt
Year 8 Mathematicians recently learnt how to do Chinese multiplication. This method helps to break up difficult multiplications and do it by a grid method, thus breaking it up into more manageable steps. Some pupils go on to use this method if they have to carry out difficult multiplication. We then got them to design a poster explaining the method to someone who has never met it and to give the advantages, disadvantages, and some examples. – Mrs McCordick
Year 8 English pupils have been looking at rhythm and different rhyme schemes used in poetry. They had to come up with their own poem offering advice using either rhyming couplets or alternate rhyming couplets, and they managed to produce some really fantastic efforts!! Here are just a few, well done Year 8!! Miss Rasdale
Very impressed by the creativity and skill demonstrated by HE students in 8D. They have clearly expressed passion and determination by showcasing their practical skillset at home. Lily McFarland has created Malteaser Squares; Callum Noble has created Gooey Chocolate Brownies; Henry Maxwell has created a Chinese Style Stir-fry. Well done everyone! – Miss Wynne
