ERBC competed at Carrick Rowing Club’s Head of the Shannon at Lough Rynn last Saturday and won 13 of the categories they entered. It was bitterly cold but the water conditions were perfect for a great day of racing.
In race 1 there were 5 wins. The MJ18 8+ had a brilliant win over the boys from Neptune RC, Commercial RC and Colaiste Iognaid. Eoghan Campbell, Harry Coalter, Jake Sembhi, Lorcan Sreenivasan, Andrew Cuthbertson, Charlie Lynn, Christian Timoney, Evan Donaghy and cox Jessica Thompson completed the course in a time of 10.19.2.
The MJ15 4X+ Jamie Dunlop, Bruno Maguire Favro, Harley Sheppard, Ben Cameron and cox Jacob Woods overcame the challenge from Carrick RC, Commercial RC, Athlone RC and Neptune RC to win in a time of 11.40.2.
MJ14 8X+ A crew Matthew Montgomery, Oliver McGarry, Aiden Chen, Shane O’Donnell, Cameron Bell, Joshua Ihnat, Olie Powell, Cillian Donaghy and Cox Errie Powell beat their clubmates to lift the winning pennant.
WJ15 8X+ crew of Mya Morris, Meabh Murphy, Abbie McCarthy Magwood, Darcy Balfour, Amy Lipscomb, Zara Lindsay, Brooke Davis, Tori Davis and cox Grace Collins also won their category.
WJ13 4X+ crew of Aimee Turner, Flavia Remedios, Penny Huddlestone, Eva Fowler and Cox Daniel Montgomery beat crews from Athlone BC, ColaisteIognaid and Galway RC to win in a time of 14.23.0
In Race 2 in the afternoon there was a great win for the MJ18 4X- Crew of Oliver Khew, Oran Harty, Austin Cassidy and Luke Bailey in a time of 10.16.8 10 seconds ahead of the boys from Galway RC.
Evan Donaghy, Christian Timoney, William Bogle, Ryan Topping and Cox Katelyn Fee won the MJ16 4X+ in a time of 11.21.3.
MJ15 8X+ Jamie Dunlop. Shane O’Donnell, Aiden Chen, Jacob Woods, Cameron Bell, Bruno Maguire Favro, Harley Sheppard, Ben Cameron and Cox Oliver McNeary won their category.
Charlie Lynn and Andrew Cuthbertson won the MJ15 2X and Olie Powell, Matthew Montgomery, Joshua Ihnat, Cillian Donaghy and Cox Harry Welsh won the MJ14 4X+.
Oliver Krawczyk, James McAleer, Oliver Jennings, Joel Crean and Cox Reece Brady won the WJ13 4X+.
Isabella Wright and Acorn Cassidy had a great race to win the WJ18 2X and the WJ14 8X+ crew of Flavia Remedios, Penny Huddlestone, Aoibhin Campbell, Amy Williamson, Chloe Simmons, Grace Collins, Aimee Turner, Eva Fowler and cox Errie Powell brought the day’s pennants tally to 13.
That brings racing for 2023 to an end and it has been a very successful one for ERBC with lots for the rowers to look forward to in 2024.
