On Wednesday 16th October, twenty-five Year 10 pupils had the opportunity to avail of Heartstart CPR training delivered by the Western Trust.
Heartstart is an initiative co-ordinated by British Heart Foundation (BHF) Northern Ireland to teach members of the public what to do in a life-threatening emergency.
Heart Start is a two-hour training session where the pupils learn new skills such as how to recognise a cardiac arrest and how to perform CPR.
At the end of the two hours the course facilitators praised the group of young people for their impeccable behaviour and the way in which they engaged fully with the training session. Prior to reluctantly returning to class, each participating pupil was presented with a certificate to verify their success in acquiring these vital life-saving skills.
If you are a Facebook user and visit the ‘Western Health and Social Care Trust Page’ you will be able to see a video of the workshop and few interviews with ERGS pupils
