    Senior Girls (U18)

The second phase of the Ulster Senior Girls Schools Cup competition took place on perfect surfaces on a beautiful crisp morning at Omagh Rugby Club.

There were a number of new teams taking part in this phase and some really excellent players that gave our girls some new problems.

The really strong numbers in our girls Senior section meant that we were again able to field two 12 person strong teams.

The ERGS Blue team started first against Omagh Academy and ran out 5-1 winners. Next they played a really strong Fivemiletown College team that they overcame 2-1. Their third game was against a new team Magh Ene which the ERGS girls won 4-0 and they finished strongly against Cardonagh, winning 4-1.

The ERGS Red team started off against the Fivemiletown College team winning 3-1 which was a great openning result. They then beat the Magh Ene girls 4-0 followed by a good result of 4-1 against Cardonagh. Their last game was really well contested but they ran out 4-2 winners against a very good Omagh Academy side.

All 24 girls played superb rugby both in attack and defence and they go into the Christmas break with all teams unbeaten.

They are looking forward to the next round in early January.

    Junior Girls (U16)

Like the Seniors the Juniors were able to field two teams in a strong junior blitz. The ERGS red team started off against Fivemiletown College with a 2-2 draw, Both scores coming from Yr10 Natalie Turner.

Next up was a much improved Foyle & Londonderry College side winning 4-3 with tries from Lucie-Ann Abbott, Rhianna Mulligan and two for Natalie Turner.

The third match was against Magh Ene and again it was a win 4-3, with tries from Lucie-Ann two from Natalie and an excellent steal and length of the pitch run from Anna Cairns.

The final match was a against Omagh Academy, by which time a few knocks were taking their toll and the score was drawn at 2-2 both tries from Natalie Turner.

The ERGS blue team‘s first match was against Cardonagh running out 6-3 winners with tries from Emma Fawcett x2, Nikki McChesney, Carla Smith x3.

Next up was Omagh HS running out 2-1 winners with tries from Carla Smith and Jessica Kingston.

The third match was against Magh Ene with the blues running out 4-0 winners with tries from Nikki McChesney, Erin Wallace, Sarah Gallagher, and Grace Bracken.

The final match was against Omagh Acedemy, winning 4-2 with tries from Carla Smith, Erin Wallace x2 and Grace Bracken.

All 15 girls played extremely well in the cold conductions and will look forward to round 3 in the New Year.
