On Tuesday 25th October Enniskillen Royal Grammar schools senior girls rugby team travelled to CVRFC to lay in the Ulster Sevens Blitz.
The conditions were perfect and some very good rugby was on show.
ERGS first game was against St Columbas and they won this 7 – 0 with two tries each from Sophie Coalter, Katie Hetherington and Ellie Ingram and one from Jade Ballantyne. The Enniskillen girls needed this game as it did take them a whlie to settle down and play their own style of rugby.
The second game was against Loretto and this was much more for structured by the ERGS team and very pleasing for the coaches to see their work from training sessions implemented- Ellie ingram and Sophie Coalter 3 tries each, Molly Parkinson 2 tries and a try each for Jessica Elliott, Sophie Sherlock and Jade Ballantyne 11-0.
Cavan were next and this was definitely a step up. It was a great game to watch and the score went to and fro as the girls battled it out finally finishing in a 3-3 draw. Try scorers Jade Ballantyne, Ellie Ingram and Sophie Coalter.
The final game was against Kilkeel where Joanna Crawford was first on the score sheet followed by tries from Jessica Elliott, Ellie Ingram, Molly Parkinson and Sophie Coalte,r giving them a win 0f 7-0
This was a whole squad performance and very pleasing to the coaches Aly and Terry Finlay who saw the new talent stepping up and buying in.
The girls now go to Dublin for the All-Ireland finals with Cavan. MaghEne and Monaghan Collegiate on November 10th where they will meet teams from the other provinces. The Enniskillen Royal girls will be hoping to progress one step further than last year when they were beaten in the Final by Leinster.
