Thursday 8th December saw our Senior team competing against local rivals, Mount Lourdes. At least it was ‘Home ground’ for both teams.
It was obvious from the off, that a very different ERGS Team took to the court today, their usual vim and vigour was lacking (competing in an all-day Rugby competition the previous day may have had something to do with this). However, never ones to give up, they pulled themselves up by the shoestrings and got stuck in.
Minus (through illness) our Captain, Scarlett Keys, the team stepped up to the plate, with Anna Wilson being more than capable in her position as Centre and Lucy Pattinson coming in nicely as Wing Defence. Aimee Ross and Katherine Armstrong were a super tag team in Wing Attack; Isla Rowland, Niamh Johnston and Amanda Farrell mixed it up well in the Goal Shooter and Goal Attack positions and Olivia Beavis, Jane Black and Leah Grey had a tough job in the Goal Keeper and Goal Defence positions. All 9 players brought great skills and heart to the match, unfortunately on this occasion, the score wasn’t quite as we had hoped with Mount Lourdes coming away as clear winners 26-10.
Well done to the girls for all their hard work on the court today and their exemplary sportsmanship.
Final game for the Seniors is Today 13th December against Lumen Christi, Derry.
Meanwhile, the Year 11s have their Fermanagh Blitz competition on Thursday 15th December.
