44 rowers from ERBC travelled to National Rowing Centre, Cork to compete in Skibbereen Grand League Regatta over 2 days.
The girls J18 squad won the Pair, Coxless Four and the Eight.
Captain Acorn Cassidy along with Isabella Wright won their category in the A final 8.37.77 almost 20 seconds ahead of the pair from Cork BC. They were 2nd in the race, beating 2 Senior and one Intermediate university crews.
Coxless Four β Acorn Cassidy, Isabella Wright, Naomi Robinson and Zara Welsh had a brilliant race in the A final to take the win over Cork BC by almost 7 secs completing the 2K in a time of 7.08.46
The were joined by Eva Johnston, Rhea Cartin McCloskey, Ruby Hamill, Kate Huddlestone and cox Jessica Thompson to race in the Womenβs Division 1 Eights where they had a brilliant heat to qualify for the A final 6.45.24, winning by a margin of 18 seconds over the other 2 J18 crews in the race.
WJ16 8+ Tori Davis, Brooke Davis, Hannah Armstrong, Sienna Howe, Naomi Robinson, Rhea Cartin McCloskey, Emily Black, Zara Welsh and Cox Abbey Wilson had a straight Final in which they led from start to finish crossing the Β line ahead of the crews from Castleconnell BC and St Michaelβs RC in time of 8.09.75.
The WJ15 4X+ crew of Tori and Brooke Davis, Abbie McCarthy Magwood, Emily Back and Cox Abbey Wilson were delighted to win their Final. The girls then split into 2 Doubles who were unfortunately drawn into the same final with Emily and Abbie taking the win by a very small margin over the twins.
There were win for Cillian Donaghy and Joshua Ihnat in the MJ15 2X and the MJ15 4X+ of Olie Powell, Matthew Montgomery, Cameron Bell, Shane OβDonnell and cox Ben Cameron.
The MJ18 8+ crew were hit by illness resulting in a couple of changes – Luke Bailey, Ryan Topping, George Kernaghan, Oran Harty, Owen Kelly, Oliver Khew, Hugo McChesney, Harry Coalter, cox Katelyn Fee had a very exciting heat against old rivals St Josephβs BC, crossing the finish line first in the J18 category. Unfortunately the tables were turned in the A Final with St Josephs catching the boys as they approached the finish line taking the win by only 0.34 secs.
