Friday 17th March, rather than visit the parades in Enniskillen, Ruby Moore, her sister Lily Moore and their friend Sarah Fleming all decided to enter the St. Patrick’s Day show at the Meadows, Craigavon.
Ruby entered 3 events: the 85cm with Pippa and the 75cm with both Pippa and Izzy. Meanwhile, Sarah entered the 1m with Sahara.
For some reason unknown to us, the 85cm took place before the 75cm. This is strange, as usually it is the other way round. This normally gives people the opportunity to ‘warm-up’ their ponies/horses on a lower course first. However… it wasn’t to happen, so Ruby and Pippa were thrown straight in! They had a reasonable round, completing the course with only 8 faults – we reckon that Pippa was still slightly sleepy in parts!
After about an hour and a half, it was time to put Pippa into the lower event – the 75cm. Well – it turns out that she wasn’t sleepy, she was just being downright stubborn on this occasion. Poor Ruby was fighting with her all the way. It was not to be at this show, but she will be ready for the next one.
Not long after – Ruby was to put Izzy through her paces. Thankfully, Lily was able to warm her up whilst Ruby was with Pippa. It was a totally different round! Izzy responded so well to all she was asked to do; she and Ruby sailed round the course with no issues at all. A lovely double clear for the duo and a great way to round up their day.
Finally, we swapped across to Arena 1, where we watched Sarah and Sahara take on the course. Unfortunately, during the warm-up, Sahara was being a ‘brat’, as in, she was refusing to jump the fences there. Sarah wasn’t holding out much hope. In they went and got as far as they could before they had to bow out. This day just wasn’t meant to be!
Not to worry, we’ll not sell the ponies on ‘Done Deal’ just yet ….
Next show is on Monday 3rd April – the Drumragh Integrated Show, at Ecclesville. We look forward to more of the pupils supporting this local show, which is always a good one to attend.
Thank-you as usual to the parents for all their support for the children.
