For their first inter-school fixture of their rugby careers the ERGS 32 man squad set off for an A and B team fixture away to Banbridge. A nervous bus arrived at the Academy unsure of what lay ahead.
With a swift warm up it was straight into the games where both teams quickly asserted their presence and soon put points on the score board. Confidence grew through the 3 x15 minute thirds as the boys cashed in the weeks of after school training and lockdown fitness sessions to dominate on both parks. The A team finished a strong 8 try’s to 3 against a large Banbridge rugby club grown side whilst the B team smashed their way home with a superb 19 try’s to 3 victory.
The future looks bright for these boys and with one more fixture for the A squad against Devenish U13s this Friday, we can definitely all look forward to the seasons ahead.
