Eight Enniskillen Royal Grammar Schools students travelled to Campbell College, Belfast to participate in the Ulster Schools Swimming Relay Gala.
A junior girls team consisting of Sophie Stewart, Sophia Williams, Molly Johnson and Ellie McCartney took part in the 4 x 50m Medley and Freestyle Relays. The swimmers represented the school with pride finishing fifth and sixth respective in their age groups.
Kealan McShea, Lewis McCartney, Josh and Jason Man formed an intermediate boys team with Jason swimming up a couple of years. The boys also competed in the Medley and Freestyle Relays finishing fourth in both.
The school also entered the Open Mixed Medley Relay with Kealan McShea (Backcrawl), Ellie McCartney (Breaststroke), Lewis McCartney (Butterfly) and Josh Man (Freestyle). With three intermediate students and Ellie (a junior) the team swam against swimmers up to 3 years older and powered their way to second place narrowly missing out on the cup.
It was a great experience for all of the swimmers – special mention goes to Sophie Stewart who had not competed in more than 18 months.
