Autumn has finally arrived with a chilly start to our Saturday morning showjumping.
Three teams today with 10 girls competing.
Once again, the 85cm team began our day with a 9am start for this event. They were the 11th team to jump out of 12. The course was quite nice with no really twisty turns. Erin Wallace and Georgie were the first pair in and were jumping really nicely, unfortunately, there was one refusal and a pole down. Tess Wallace and Rusty were in next and were smooth in their first phase and then flying in the second. Just near the end though, Rusty clipped a pole and it fell, incurring 4 faults. Molly Lee and Mouse followed and had a ‘sticky’ round with one pole down also. Finally, Chloe Cathcart and Queenie entered the arena for their turn. They were having a lovely round also until, yet again, another pole went down. So – not a clear round this week, but good jumping, nonetheless. Well done all.
The next event began at 12.30 and we fielded 2 Teams. ERGS Red were Team 3 of 10 and ERGS Blue were Team 7. Our Red team comprised Alice Black on Cureels Shadow, Erin Wallace on Bess, Molly Lee on Amy and Maeve Rolston-McAuliffe on Pyper. Alice was very comfortable in the saddle and gave the team a solid start with a double clear. Erin and Bess had a fab and speedy round, getting a double clear in just over 26 seconds. Next in we had Molly and this was a lovely round, again in a good time and a double clear. 3 for 3 so far. Finally, Maeve walked in, not having jumped here for the school before, she was a little nervous. No need! Another double clear – 4 for 4 and a very happy Red Team.
A little wait ensued until the next team were due in. This was our Blue team comprising Imogen Heap on Taz, Emma McCaldin ( the birthday girl) on Katman, Lily Moore on Izzy and Isabelle Wallace on Bess. This was more mixed in results. Imogen was first and was delighted to get a double clear – a great round to watch. Emma was next, jumps 2 and 3 caused a bit of and issue, so she went to her 2nd phase and had a clear there. Nice to do on her birthday. Lily entered next, she and Izzy had another super round, getting a double clear to join Imogen. Last for the day was Isabelle. She and Bess were doing well, but possibly a bit of tiredness crept in for Bess ( having already jumped) as she clipped 2 poles.
Despite the poles down – the girls all had a super day, enjoying a Colin the Caterpillar cake courtesy of Emma – yum!
There was a tense wait for a while, as, until the last few teams, we were lying in third position. The final team to jump just pipped us at the post and we slid into 4th place. A great achievement for the Blue Team.
A great day’s jumping – next event is Saturday 28th for week 4. Looking forwards to it.
Thanks to the parents for transporting both children and horses/ponies.
