A beautiful morning – chilly but filled with Winter sunshine.
With various injuries to people and to ponies, or other commitments, we only had 5 girls competing today.
With no 85cmTeam, we had only two individuals competing in the Individual. These were Erin Wallace on Georgie and Tess Wallace on Rusty. Erin was in first and had a solid round with just 8 faults, one of which was a refusal. Considering there had been quite a few riders not completing the course, this was a good performance. Next in was Tess, determined to make as many tight turns as she could so the duo could get a fast time. The pair had a comfortable first round and a speedy timed round completing the course in just over 28 seconds with no faults. Mission accomplished!
The 75cm Team event began at 12.30 and we were Team 7. The girls were excited to compete having taken Week 4 off due to the half term holidays.
First in was Erin on Georgie. Having already competed in the 85cm, Georgie was nicely warmed up and limber. The pair had a great round with a strong fast time with just one pole down.
Emma and Katman were in next, these two took things slow and steady and as a result got a double clear – great riding. Isabelle and Bess were next. These two are a good combination and usually have a double clear. Unfortunately, not to be today, 4 faults but a course well completed nonetheless. Finally, Lily and Izzy took to the Arena. They had a good start but then Izzy had a refusal which was uncharacteristic. With great horsemanship, Lily handled Izzy well, getting her back on course to continue the round.
It was not to be this week for our young riders; hopefully next week ( the last in the series) will see the girls come back fighting with all the usual riders attending.
Last but not least, were Tess and Rusty again; this time in the 1m competition. Tess has just begun to jump this height with Rusty, so will need to be patient as they learn together. It was a good round with plenty of excellent approaches to the jumps and the actual jump itself. Unfortunately, a few poles down caused some faults. A lot of positives to be taken from the round that will help for the next time!
The support from parents is much appreciated as always.
