On Thursday 17th January the ERGS Year 10 Team (plus 4 Year 8s) attended the Annual Year 10 Fermanagh Netball Blitz in The Lakeland Forum.
There were 5 schools at the Blitz -St Fanchea’s College, Fivemiletown College, Devenish College, St Kevin’s Lisnaskea and ourselves.
Our girls drew Devenish College for the first game of the day. They were slow to get started, but finished strongly, winning by 8-0.
The next match was against St Fanchea’s Enniskillen(SFE)whom we had already faced last termin the N.I> League. On that occasion, SFE won by 2 points, this time however, we held them to a draw, 4-4. This was largely due to two superb shots from Lauren Booth at the edge of the circle.
The third match against St Kevin’s, Lisnaskea (SKL) was tight to begin with as we had a few team changes. The girls soon got into their stride though, winning the match 5-2.
Finally, we faced Fivemiletown College (FC) making a few more changes to the team to give fresh legs. Another strong performance from the ERGS pupils saw them win the match 6-1.
It was quite a close tournament with St Fanchea’s putting in a strong performance also.
At the close of play, the results were as follows…
Enniskillen Royal Grammar – 1st
St Fanchea’s College – 2nd
St Kevin’s Lisnaskea – 3rd.
