Six Enniskillen Royal GS swimmers did the school proud at the Ulster Schools Key Stage 3 & 4 Championships held at Larne Leisure Centre on Saturday 28th February.
Holly Barkley, year 10, had two very strong swims, clocking new PBs in both the 50m Freestyle and the 100m Individual Medley.
Jakub Mikievicz Lumayad, year 8, had a very successful gala. In 50m Backstroke he took 2 seconds off his entry time securing a silver medal. He then produced a very strong swim in 50m Breaststroke, clocking a 7 second PB to claim a gold medal.
Older brother Russell Mikievicz Lumayad, year 12, secured a new PB in the 50m Butterfly, placing 5th in his age group. A further PB in the 50m Freestyle gained him another top 10 finish.
Ryan Mongan, year 12, hit the wall with a new PB in the 50m Breaststroke to qualify for the final where he narrowly missed the podium to place 4th overall. He clocked a 5 second PB in the 100m Individual Medley to place 5th overall.
James McSorley, year 9, secured new PBs in both the 50m Butterfly and 50m Freestyle.
Haralds Uzulins, year 11, claimed new PBs in both the 50m Freestyle and the 50m Butterfly events.
Many of these swimmers will carry these valuable competition experiences into their preparations for Swim Ulster’s 2 day Aspiring Champions Meet in Bangor later this month.
