ERGS Med XV 29 – Rainey 0

By creativemedia | Latest News | Comments are Closed | 10 October, 2016 | 1

The Enniskillen Royal Medallion XV maintained their home record by beating Rainey on Saturday in an entertaining match. The home side were quick to show their intent with full back, Malone launching an attack straight from the kick off out of his own 22. This set the tone for the rest of the match with the Enniskillen boys eager to move the ball at every opportunity to their talented backline. The irrepressible Malone was first on the score sheet with a well taken try in the corner. The forwards then took charge putting their opponents on the back foot with multiple line breaks and accurate offloading eventually allowing No.8 Gauley to power over for the second. Capt. Mills then found a gap in the defence and sprinted clear from half way to set up a comfortable lead at half time. The introduction of fresh legs after the break gave fresh impetus to the Royal attack and Gauley was soon in again for his second, after breaking through he appeared to be brought down just short of the line but managed to stretch over for the touchdown. Following this the game ebbed and flowed with the visitors rallying but the defence held firm. The performance was rounded off with a fine try as sub Flanagan was on hand to finish off a break out in midfield from Mills.

This was once again an improved team performance which is much needed to build team morale and confidence ahead of the big royal derby match against rivals Dungannon next Saturday.
