On Friday 24th of June the Enniskillen R.G.S. Intermediate boys tennis team beat R.B.A.I. to win the Ulster Plate final. The team of Sam Morrison, Jonah Balfour, Jake Elliot and James Robinson had beaten Larne GS and Belfast High School to reach the final and started the fixture by playing four singles matches. The honours were even with Enniskillen winning two and R.B.A.I. taking the other two. Jonah Balfour played very well and won his singles 8 -0 which was to prove significant later on. The doubles matches were even closer and both required tie breaks to settle them. Once again the spoils were shared meaning the fixture was tied at 3 matches apiece. At this point the fixture proceeded to games count back and Enniskillen came out on top with a score of 43 – 36. All four of the boys are members of the Enniskillen Tennis Club Junior performance squad and much credit must go to the club coaches; Matthew and Louise McGann. The Enniskillen R.G.S. girls have also reached the plate final but school activities mean that the match will now be played after the summer holidays.
