Enniskillen Royal Grammar School Brass Band performed on Friday 1st March at the Valley Hotel in Fivemiletown as part of the Brass Band NI (BBNI) ‘Brass in Concert’ Festival under the Musical Direction of Brass Band Director and Tutor, Mr Stephen Magee. The band members really showed commitment in getting their instruments collected from school and attending the concert despite the unexpected heavy snow fall which had caused school to close on Friday. They performed three pieces in front of a large crowd including the Competition Adjudicator for the weekend, Mr Alan Fernie from Scotland. The pieces were ‘Independentia’ by Stephen D Wood and two of Alan Fernie’s own arrangements: ‘Singing in the Rain’ and ‘Funky Celebration’ based on a song by Cool and the Gang. The school band was highly applauded and very well received by the audience. Thanks go to all who participated and to Mr Magee for his preparation for the concert.
