A frustrating morning for the 34 strong Medallion squad.
The B boys lost 35-5 after a sustaining 3 early injuries which knocked their confidence. The Regent boys offered some big forward running opposition but all credit to the boys for sticking with it to the end of the game. Man of the match Harry Beattie for his tackle count.
The As suffered from a long bus journey in the first 1/4 allowing Regent to open the scoring with an initial 7 points. Regent worked hard to retain ball but once the ERGS lads regained possession they looked dangerous and a superb backs try finished by Ben Wallace demonstrated the potential that we haven’t quite unlocked yet. The game continued into the second half with another superb score from Bryn Haire stepping his defender on the inside and diving over the line. However several missed opportunities or knock-ons capped by a frustrating disallowed try under the posts by H McKenzie followed. With only one minute to go and with ERGS in the lead 7-10, it was Regent who got lucky off a line clearance and managed to score the final points of the day in the bottom corner. Final score 12-10. Man of the Match Ben Wallace.
