Great day at the Fermanagh Schools’ Athletics

A very successful day for our Yr8-10 athletes who took part in Friday’s Fermangh Schools’ Athletics Meet at the impressive  St  Michael’s tartan track facility at Cherrymount link road playing fields.  With serious athletic talent across the ranks, there were plenty of personal bests and medals achieved in the glorious sunshine and perfect conditions.

The day started with the 100m heats and with all athletes finishing either 1^st 2^nd or 3^rd, and qualifying for the finals.

In the girls 300m and the boys 400m for yr 9 & 10 – Livia Gallagher came 1sts and Tori Davis came 2^nd. In the boys 400m Adam Cathcart came 2^nd and Ethan Kavanagh 3^rd.

In the girls 600m – Claire Zhang and Tori Lilly came 4^th and 5^th, and in the boys Henry Follis came 3^rd and James McAleer came 6^th.

The 1000m for yr9 girls saw Ellie Dunlop come 3^rd and Emily Black 5^th. In the boys Jake Hinchcliffe came 5^th and Alex Irvine came 8^th. Year 10 girls saw Rachel Cathcart come 5^th, and Mackenzie Corbett come 3^rd in the boys.

In the 200m heats again like the 100m heats all athletes finished 1^st 2^nd or 3^rd with the majority qualifying for the finals.

Meanwhile off the track in the long jump Euan Burrows came 3^rd in the yr9 boys event, and Hannah Johnston came 1^st and Sarah Fleming came 2^nd.

The 100m Yr8 girls was won by Zoe Elliott and yr8 boys by Jack Dundas. The yr9 girls saw a 1^st by Natalie Turner, and 2^nd by Livia Gallagher, and in the boys Dylan McCutcheon came 1^st and Euan Burrows came a very tight 4^th. In yr10 girls Marianna Bell came 3^rd and Carla Smith came 7^th in a very close race.

In the 200m finals Poppie Beddard came 4^th and Kerrie Carrothers came 6^th in the yr8 girls race. In the boys Jacob Balfour came 3^rd and Connor Phair came 5^th. The yr9 girls saw Sarah Fleming come 3^rd and Hannah Longworth 4^th. Yr9 boys saw Dylan McCutcheon come 1^st and Euan a close 4^th. The Yr10 girls saw Nerida Kudavaite came 6^th, and in the boys Jamie Morrow 5^th and Ethan Kavanagh 6^th.

The final races where the 4x100m relays…. The yr8 girls came 2^nd, yr8 boys 1^st, yr9 girls 1^st, yr9 boys 2^nd, year 10 girls 2^nd and yr10 boys 2^nd.
