The third round of blitzes took place on Wednesday 1st Feb at Omagh RFC. Two teams of ERGS girls took to the field.
Team 1 first played Devenish College with Erin Wallace running in two tries but unfortunately Devenish got a thrid in the last seconds of the game. The next two matches were against the more experienced Fivemiletown College and Magh Ene The girls fought hard in both games, especially since it was for several of the team only their second blitz. The scores ended 4-0 and 5-0 respectively. The final game was against St Columbas Glenties. This was an end to end game with Erin Wallace again scoring 3 tries and Summer Ritchie also scoring to run out 4-3 winners. An excellent win to finish off the day.
Meanwhile team 2 began the day with another last second loss to Omagh Academy, Natalie Turner scoring one try in the 1-2 defeat. However, after the slow start the team kicked on and beat Omagh HS 4-2, Grace Bracken x2 Jodie Thompson x1 and Abbie McCarthy Magwood x1. Next up the girls produced a far more clinical display against Magh Ene, running out 8-0 winners with tries from Emily Murray x1, Ruby Moore x1, Natalie Turner x2, Grace Bracken x1, Carla Smith x1 and Jessie Kingston x2. An excellent all round team performance. The final game was against Foyle and Londonderry College, Grace Bracken scoring twice and Jessie Kingston scoring x1 in a 3-1 win.
Plenty of great play and also plenty to work on over the next few weeks.
