Important Consultation: Safer Journeys to School
The Department for Infrastructure is seeking the views of the public on their Safer Journeys to School consultation which has the crucial aim of improving safety when passengers -particularly children -are boarding and getting off buses.
This is a significant opportunity to record your views on this important issue for us all, particularly in a rural area where the majority of our young people travel to school by bus.
Please find the link to the survey below. The survey closes at 5 pm on Thursday 21st May 2026

KPMG Book Awards Ireland Junior Juries Programme
A group of our year 8 and 9 students have really enjoyed being part of the Junior Juries programme this year for the KPMG Book Awards Ireland 2026. Since the shortlist was announced on 4th February our young readers have been meeting weekly to read, discuss and assess the shortlisted titles, finally submitting a score for our favourite book.
The winner was announced on Monday May 18th as part of the International Literature Festival and the Junior Juries Award went to Solo by Grainne O’Brien.
Well done to all our Junior Jurors. Have a listen to our impressions of some of the shortlisted titles.

Congratulations to Year 10 pupil Chloe Cathcart, who was off school last week representing Northern Ireland at the prestigious Royal Windsor Horse Show in the Pony Club Dressage Home Nations competition.
Chloe was the youngest competitor in the Open section of the competition, with most competitors falling within the 18–25 age bracket. For a 14-year-old to compete so successfully at this level is an outstanding achievement.
Individually, Chloe finished an impressive 6th place, while the Northern Ireland team placed 5th overall.
Well done, Chloe!
