Success for Enniskillen Royal Grammar School Students in National Translation Competition

At the end of the summer term, we were delighted to learn of the success of three Enniskillen Royal Grammar School students who took part in the prestigious Anthea Bell Prize for Young Translators, a national translation competition run by the Queen's Translation Exchange at the University of Oxford.
The 2026 competition attracted a record-breaking 25,000 pupils from 532 schools, further establishing it as the country's largest creative translation competition for young people.

We are pleased to report that our students achieved success in all three languages offered at Enniskillen Royal Grammar School.
Keon Neones was awarded the Level 1 Area Prize for Northern Ireland and was named National Runner-Up in the UK for French.
Lily Shaw won the Level 3 Northern Ireland Award for German.
Uma de Naipir received a Highly Commended award for her Level 3 translation from Spanish into English.
We are immensely proud of all three students, who demonstrated outstanding creativity, linguistic ability, and eloquence in their translations. As Dr Charlotte Ryland, Director of the Queen's Translation Exchange, explains:
"The skills developed through translation – critical thinking, problem solving, empathy – set the rising generation up to thrive in our global economy. Our Anthea Bell Prize winners excel in all these skills, and I can't wait to see what they go on to do."
We congratulate Keon, Lily and Uma on their excellent achievements and wish them every success in their future studies of French, German and Spanish, both at Enniskillen Royal Grammar School and beyond.

On Thursday 10th September, we were delighted to welcome back Sarah McDaid from Bank of Ireland to deliver the 'Planning Ahead Junior Programme' to pupils in 8B and 8D as part of the Preventative Curriculum.
During the session, Sarah explored a range of financial literacy topics, including budgeting, saving, distinguishing between needs and wants and developing confidence in making informed everyday financial decisions.
We are grateful to Sarah for sharing her expertise with our pupils and we look forward to welcoming her back later this month to work with pupils in 8A, 8C and 8E.
