    ‘TOP ROLE FOR PETER’

    By Enniskillen Royal | Latest News | Comments are Closed | 10 April, 2018 | 0
Congratulations to Year13 pupil Peter Watson who has been appointed to serve as Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet for the County of Fermanagh, receiving the award at a formal ceremony held at Parliament Buildings, Stormont.

Cadet Colour Sergeant Peter Watson (17) has been a member of the Enniskillen Royal Grammar School Detachment since 2013, during which time he has grown to be a well-respected, loyal and dedicated Cadet who can be relied upon at all times.

The Citation which marks his appointment commends Peter for his speedy completion of the demanding Army Proficiency Certificate syllabus, attaining 4 Star and the Senior Cadet Instructors Cadre in July 2017. He is currently working towards his Duke of Edinburgh Award at Silver level.

He is described in the Citation as ‘a competent instructor and an excellent role model to the junior cadets. His personal turnout and bearing are of the highest standard. He is fully engaged at detachment level regularly seizing the opportunity to instruct and mentor junior cadets. Cadet Colour Sergeant Watson enjoys and endeavours to take part in as many activities as he can in the Army Cadet Force.’

He has represented the Detachment, Company and Battalion on a number of occasions, taking part in the prestigious Northern Ireland Military Skills Competition, and, in 2017, attending the Sovereign’s Parade at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.  Peter regularly takes part in local community events such as the annual Remembrance Sunday Parade.

The Citation concludes, “Cadet Colour Sergeant Watson is a reliable cadet who is highly thought of by his peers, Adult Instructors and Officers. He is dependable, hard-working and a very good exemplar for the Army Cadet Force. He is a first class cadet and most worthy of recognition.”

Peter is photographed receiving the certificate which marks his appointment from Viscount Brookeborough, Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant for the County of Fermanagh.
