World Book Day Art Competition and Dressing up Fun!

    By Sinead Magee | Latest News | Comments are Closed | 8 March, 2024 | 0

The standard of entries for the “Books for all Subjects” Art competition was extremely high, so huge congratulations to all entrants. First place went to Clare Zhang 10A for Howl’s Moving Castle, a book linked to English, Science and English. It was praised for its exquisite detail and visual impact. Second place was Good Omens by Lily Shaw, based on the novel by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman and linked to R.E themes. Joint 3rd place was shared by Elouise Dickson 8D with her Facts About Science entry and Ellie Grace Condell for her Wonka illustration, linked to H.E. Well done!

Thanks to all students who joined in the spirit of World Book Day dressing up fun, bringing books to life in front of our eyes!  We had a fine selection of book characters including the Boy in the Striped Pyjamas,  crayons from The day the Crayons Quit , Ratburger, Wolverine and many more. Best Costume prize was awarded to Yasmina Labib 8A for her home made creation depicting The Iron Man from the Ted Hughes book. A particular mention is deserved by Lorna Davis’ wonderful canteen staff who pulled out all the stops to bring book-themed fun to the canteen for the day! We had characters such as Cruella Deville and Alice in Wonderland and they baked special book themed cakes as well. Well done, the students absolutely loved this inspiration!

Why do we do all this? Because reading is so important! Thanks to everyone who helped to celebrate World Book Day in style!
