    Portadown and Skibbereen Regattas

By Enniskillen Royal | Latest News, Rowing Reports | Comments are Closed | 5 May, 2022 | 0

It was a very busy weekend for the rowers from ERBC with both Portadown and Skibbereen Regattas on the same weekend.

Almost 80 junior rowers went to Portadown Regatta on Saturday and came back to Enniskillen with 12 category wins.

The first wins of the day came from the two MJ15 4X+ crews over RBAI and Portadown BC’s crews.

ERBC’s WJ15 4X+ crew took the win over Neptune RC in a great race over the one Km distance.

Joshua Coalter, Jacob Halliday, Rory Keogh, Oliver Mooney and Katelyn Fee won the MJ16 Coxed quad with a 4 lengths win over the crew from Neptune RC

There were 2 wins for the WJ14 4X+ crews over Coleraine Grammar School.

Christian Timoney and Joe Blake and Charlie Lynn with his crew mate Lorcan Sreenivasan had wins in the MJ15 2X.

Eoghan Campbell and Cillian Donaghy are both following in their older siblings’  footsteps at ERBC coming away with wins in the MJ15 single sculls.

Dara McMurray Taylor and Bruno Favro Maguire took the win in the MJ14 2X over Coleraine Grammar School.

The girls Junior 16 eight also overcame the challenge from Coleraine Grammar School to take ERBC’s last win of the day. The crew of Annabelle Kingston, Isabella Wright, Aimee Elliott, Eva Johnston, Katie O’Hare, Ellen Graham, Erin Trimble, Zara Welsh and Katelyn Fee were delighted with their win rounding off a great day for the junior crews.

The senior crews were competing at the Skibbereen Grand League Regatta at the National Rowing Centre in Cork over two days and what a fantastic weekend it was for them.

There was a great win for the boys in the Junior Coxed Fours on Saturday afternoon when Tom Blake, Marcus Davis – Kunze, Tim Murphy, Charlie Smith and Cox Grace Ralph competed the 2km course in a time of 6.44.86, almost 7 secs over the crew from St Joseph’s, Galway. The boys’ eight Tom Blake, Lewis Nixon, Charlie Smith, Tim Murphy, Nathan Kelly, Oran Harty, Marcus Davis Kunze, Luke Paton and Cox Frankie Rehill won the Club Eights in a time of 6.03.54 and also took the Mens’ Club Coxed Four win 6.57.55.

The Girls, Chloe Thompson, Laura Turner, Niamh and Acorn Cassidy took the Junior Coxless Four in 7.31.39 over Cork BC and Colaiste Iognaid and they had a fantastic race in the Women’s Eights in a great time of 6.48.74.

Next up for the junior crews is Athlone Regatta on 14th May. After that 2 junior crews and the senior boys will head off to race at National Schools Regatta at Eton Dorney at the end of the month.

Many thanks to everyone who supported the rowers last weekend, thanks to everyone who travelled with them, helped them off and on the water and to all the parents who assisted the coaches.

The Boat Club are holding a fundraising Gala Ball this Friday night and there are a very limited number of tickets available if you would like to go. There will be an auction and a raffle on the night, if you would like to support the event please see details on Enniskillen Royal Boat Club’s Facebook page
