On Wednesday 21st February, the Junior team headed onceagain to Lisburn Racquets Club. On this occasion, they were facing Hunterhouse in the Semi Final of the Shield competition.
Despite valiant efforts against a strong opponent, our girls were unable to break through the Hunterhouse attacking duo of, Centre and Goal attack. The ERGS team really fought hard from start to finish, with flashes of excellent passing and evasive play throughout. To give all credit to the girls, they did not lack for skill or effort. The ball was being fed through the thirds into our attacking circle, but tight marking from the opposition ensured that the ERGS shots were well defended.
Once again, a cliché perhaps, but so very true on this occasion… the scoreline does not reflect how tight this game was. Final score 22-9 to Hunterhouse.
Congratulations to the girls on their achievements to date in getting to the ¼ Final of the League and ½ final of the shield. I look forward to seeing them progress further next year.
