20 junior crews from Enniskillen Royal Boat Club travelled to Trinity Regatta last Saturday and they won 5 of their categories. This was the first time that some of these younger rowers had raced side by side and they all performed really well, gaining lots of experience to take with them as the rowing season continues in earnest. This is an extremely busy couple of weeks for the rowers at the Boathouse as they balance the training with their exams.
ERBC’s first win on Saturday came from the MJ14 4x+ against Neptune RC which they won easily.
The MJ16 4x+ crew had 3 great races as they qualified for the final when they beat the crew from Clonmel by 4 lengths.
Kate Huddlestone and Isabella Wright had a fantastic race in the WJ15 double final to take the win over the girls from Commercial RC.
Justin Smith and Hugo McChesney crossed the finish line well ahead of the crew from Kings Hospital School in the Mens J15 2X final
The girls J14 4x+ crew of Abbey Johnston, Emily Black, Isabella Wright, Natalie Turner and cox Abbey Wilson beat the crew from Graiguenam RC to take their well deserved win.
The Boys J16 eight raced a strong novice crew from Trinity university and gained invaluable racing experience to bring forward to their next race.
The senior rowers and the two junior 14 crews who will compete at the National Schools Regatta at Eton Dorney next weekend remained at home to train on Lough Erne over the weekend in perfect water conditions.
Many thanks to everyone who travelled with the rowers to Trinity Regatta helping them get on and off the water. Thanks to the parents who came to Dublin and cheered the team on.
