Last But By No Means Least – Excellent Work Celebration Gallery No.10, June 2020

This week’s entries to the 10th and final Celebration Gallery of 2019-20 brings to a close a selection of the fantastic work and independent learning that has been done by ERGS pupils as they have worked their way through lockdown this term.

Year 8 pupils have now submitted their Art and Design ‘Flanimal’ projects which has yielded some very creative, if not slightly bizarre creatures for this weeks gallery – Mrs Shaw

Pupils were encouraged to enter the Into Film ‘Nature in Your Neighbourhood Filmmaking Competition’. House points were available for each entry made and four positional places were awarded. 1st Hannah Campbell-Year 11, 2nd Adam Cathcart-Year 8, 3rd Maddison Blair -Year9 and 4th Zara Hutchinson-Year 10

At the end of last week the Inter House Drama Bingo results were calculated with TRIEN being crowned the clear winners by scoring a staggering 270 house points. A superb effort by Ryan Topping of 8C and Sarah Walsh of 10D resulted in them being awarded joint 1st place overall and earning 45 points each for their houses. A fantastic effort by 39 very game and creative competitors! – Mrs Rees

For the last few weeks Year 9 Historians have been creating a PowerPoint presentation on the Great Famine. Year 10 Art has focused on the idea of Pattern Design with some fabulous outcomes – Ms Stephenson

A definite contender for ‘Chef of Lockdown’, Elisha Gallagher in year 10 has clearly been very busy cooking and baking during lockdown. She has created a number of very high skilled dishes and it is clear how much effort went into each dish. Well done Elisha and keep up the excellent work. – Mrs Wynne

Photographs of some of the excellent work from Mrs Rees’ classes 8E who worked on  The Tempest and 10A who were due to perform their own versions of Macbeth. I was really impressed by the imaginative and creative response by the students to these Shakespeare texts. The Key Stage 3  drama pupils have worked so hard and put detail and effort into their work.  Mrs McDowell and I are really looking forward to getting back into the classroom to see them put their ideas into action.  Well done and have a great summer! – Mrs Rees

As part of their RE work Sarah Walsh and Lisa Downey in 10D completed these detailed and well presented projects on Relationships. Their thorough research allowed them both to express and justify some thoughtful and justified conclusions; a skill that will serve them well as they move onto their GCSE studies next year. – Miss Strong

During Year 10 we have studied several topics in Physics lessons such as Density, Forces, Radioactivity and Electricity.​ After finishing our final topic and with students about to move onto KS4 I asked Year 10 pupils to research a career that requires Physics knowledge. Employers in numerous industries value the analytical and problem-solving skills that physics graduates bring to​ the table and there are numerous career opportunities which make use of the skills and knowledge covered in the physics curriculum. Well done to last week’s top Quizlet players in Year 11 German, practising their final section of German vocabulary on health and illness – Mrs Donald

For Yr11 GCSE English Literature the class were using questions to annotate their own version of the poem The Charge of the Light Brigade. Tiana-Grace Abbot went above and beyond provided a detailed array of information showing a perceptive and insightful response to the poem. – Miss Mulligan
