    By Enniskillen Royal | Latest News | Comments are Closed | 26 June, 2020 | 0

This week’s entries to the 10th and final Celebration Gallery of 2019-20 brings to a close a selection of the fantastic work and independent learning that has been done by ERGS pupils as they have worked their way through lockdown this term.

Year 8 pupils have now submitted their Art and Design ‘Flanimal’ projects which has yielded some very creative, if not slightly bizarre creatures for this weeks gallery – Mrs Shaw

Pupils were encouraged to enter the Into Film ‘Nature in Your Neighbourhood Filmmaking Competition’. House points were available for each entry made and four positional places were awarded. 1st Hannah Campbell-Year 11, 2nd Adam Cathcart-Year 8, 3rd Maddison Blair -Year9 and 4th Zara Hutchinson-Year 10

The winning films brilliantly celebrate the young filmmakers surroundings documenting what they’ve noticed or appreciated while in lockdown and self-isolation just click on the video links below to view Adam, Maddison and Zara‘s work. Mrs O’Donohue.

Year 10 Art has focused on the idea of Pattern Design with some fabulous outcomes – Ms Stephenson

A definite contender for ‘Chef of Lockdown’, Elisha Gallagher in year 10 has clearly been very busy cooking and baking during lockdown. She has created a number of very high skilled dishes and it is clear how much effort went into each dish. Well done Elisha and keep up the excellent work. – Mrs Wynne

Congratulations to all the Year 10 Spanish students who have successfully managed to crack the code and make their way out of the Escape Room Challenge – Mrs Crawford

Photographs of some of the excellent work from Mrs Rees’ classes 8E who worked on  The Tempest and 10A who were due to perform their own versions of Macbeth. I was really impressed by the imaginative and creative response by the students to these Shakespeare texts. The Key Stage 3  drama pupils have worked so hard and put detail and effort into their work.  Mrs McDowell and I are really looking forward to getting back into the classroom to see them put their ideas into action.  Well done and have a great summer! – Mrs Rees

As part of their RE work Sarah Walsh and Lisa Downey in 10D completed these detailed and well presented projects on Relationships. Their thorough research allowed them both to express and justify some thoughtful and justified conclusions; a skill that will serve them well as they move onto their GCSE studies next year. – Miss Strong

During Year 10 we have studied several topics in Physics lessons such as Density, Forces, Radioactivity and Electricity. After finishing our final topic and with students about to move onto KS4 I asked Year 10 pupils to research a career that requires Physics knowledge. Employers in numerous industries value the analytical and problem-solving skills that physics graduates bring to the table and there are numerous career opportunities which make use of the skills and knowledge covered in the physics curriculum. Below are a few examples of very good work submitted by Year 10 pupils which illustrate the range of career opportunities which use physics. – Mr Sloane

Physics Careers – Astronomer by Joseph OKane

Physics careers – Biophysicist by Lisa Downey

Physics careers – Radiographer by Madison Beatty.

Here are some lovely Year 11 creative writing pieces inspired by just an image. This was a challenging task and was their first attempt at Year 12 Unit 4 work and I am really impressed with their efforts! – Miss Heap

For Yr11 GCSE English Literature the class were using questions to annotate their own version of the poem The Charge of the Light Brigade. Tiana-Grace Abbot went above and beyond provided a detailed array of information showing a perceptive and insightful response to the poem. – Miss Mulligan

A light-hearted problem for year 13 Mathematicians, and a tip to make the most of their pocket money! William and Emily have it sorted along with many others. Well Done! – Mrs Maguire

and they are not just becoming more discerning consumers! The same yr13 Mathematician are also busy making progress with their A2 studies and although not perhaps as eye-catching as some of the junior submissions to the Weekly Galleries, these equations and solutions are still considered beautiful by Mathematicians – Mrs Downey

Sasha Moore in Year 13 has been doing a great job keeping up her A2 Biology studies and learning about Immunity – Miss Curran

And finally this week our musical entertainment takes the form of a Virtual Musical Recital.  Musicians from across the school community have been able to continue with some composing, performing and listening activities in KS3 and KS4. Year 8 have been composing Raps, Year 9 have been Song-Writing, Year 10 have been completing their study of Film Music whilst Yr11 have continued with their GCSE studies.  However, following on from the iMovie featuring a number of young performers, available to view in the ‘Good Job’ Gallery on 12th June, please enjoy a number of performances here as a short Summer Recital. – Mrs Bloomfield & Miss Rasdale.

    • From Year 8 we have Jessica Foy (Piano), Lorcan Sreenivasan (Drum Kit), Annie Fowler (Voice) and Barry Hutchinson (Piano).
    • From Year 9 and 10 please enjoy the following performances from James Mongan (Violin), James Morrison (Euphonium) and Elisha Gallagher (Piano).
    • From Year 11 we will finish with Performances from Dale Clendening on (Cornet) and Catherine Fleming (Piano)

We hope you enjoy the performances and that all of our young musicians keep on making music during the summer! Wishing everyone in our school community a healthy and happy Summer break.

Despite the obvious challenges posed by Lockdown, I am sure you will agree that the variety and quality of work displayed within these weekly galleries has been an absolute pleasure to observe and testament to the considerable efforts and enthusiasm for learning demonstrated by the pupils of our school. A massive well done and thank you to all the pupils whose work has been displayed over the last three months; you have now earned yourselves a well deserved break and I hope you all have a safe and enjoyable summer holiday – Mr Beddard
