    Limerick Regatta Success

By Enniskillen Royal | Latest News, Rowing Reports | Comments are Closed | 27 April, 2022 | 1

Almost 70 junior rowers from ERBC travelled to O’Briens Bridge, Limerick last Saturday to compete in Limerick Regatta and they were absolutely delighted to return home with 6 sets of medals.
The first win of the day came from the WJ14 4x+ crew of Natalie Turner, Jessica Kingston, Jessica Thompson, Isabella Wright and cox Abbey Wilson with a great win over Neptune RC.

There were wins for 2 of the MJ14 4X+ crews in straight finals. Evan Donaghy, Luke Bailey, Eoghan Campbell, Ethan Downey and cox Katelyn Fee overcame the challenge from Clonmel RC while Dara McMurray-Taylor, Harley Sheppard, Ben Cameron, Oliver Mooney and cox Jamie Dunlop took the win over Muckross RC.

The boys J15 Octo had a brilliant win over Commercial RC in a very exciting race, the crew of Joe Murphy, Justin Smith, George Kernaghan, Andrew Cuthbertson, Ryan Topping, Hugo McChesney, Austin Cassidy, Christian Timoney and cox William Bogle were delighted to cross the finish line first.

Isabella Wright, Natalie Turner, Abbey Johnston, Jessica Thompson, Jessica Kingston, Tori Davis, Andrea Blake, Mya Morris and Abbey Wilson took the win in the WJ14 8X+ over St Michael’s RC.

The last win of the day came from MJ14 8X+ with the crew Cillian Donaghy, Evan Donaghy, Luke Bailey, Joshua Inhat, Ethan Downey, Jamie Dunlop, Eoghan Campbell and cox Daniel Montgomery who overcame St Joseph’s RC.

There were also 2nd place finishes for 5 of ERBC’s crews and lots of great racing experience gained by all the rowers. All the rowers raced really well and things are looking good as the regatta season continues.

Many thanks to Tim Richmond, Barney Rix, Gerry Murphy, Iain Kennedy and Alison Fee who travelled with the group which included an overnight stay in Limerick.

This weekend sees the senior rowers heading to the National Rowing Centre in Cork to compete at Skibbereen Regatta while the juniors travel to race at Portadown Regatta.

This is an extremely busy few months for all the rowers at ERBC with less than 3 months to go until Henley Womens and Henley Royal Regattas and the Irish Championships.

Congratulations to Robin Boyd (Year 10), who is representing Fermanagh this weekend at the John West Féile na nGael 2026 in Carlow.

Robin travels with Ederney St Joseph’s GAC hurling team, who qualified as Fermanagh Champions, to compete against teams from across Ireland at one of the country’s premier underage Gaelic Games events.

This is a tremendous achievement for Robin and his teammates, and a reward for all their hard work and dedication throughout the season.

We wish Robin, his teammates, coaches and supporters every success this weekend.

    Year I Left ERGS: 2018

    A Level Subjects Studied:
    Business Studies
    Physical Education
    Biology

After leaving ERGS in 2018, I began studying Business Management at Ulster University in Jordanstown while also working part-time at ‘The Midway Stores’ in Letterbreen.

I started university in 2018 and thoroughly enjoyed the experience - perhaps a little too much at times! However, like many people, my plans were interrupted in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Wanting to give back during such a difficult period, I spent a year working at the COVID Centre in Enniskillen. This role allowed me to develop valuable interpersonal skills including teamwork, empathy, communication, and swabbing!

The following year, I returned to my studies with renewed focus and graduated with an honours degree in Business Management.

For the past two years, I have been completing my accountancy exams and am proud to say that I am now fully qualified and no longer a trainee!

Alongside my academic and professional journey, rugby has remained a huge part of my life. I am a proud member of Enniskillen Rugby Club and recently played a key role as “pack leader” in helping the club achieve promotion to the All-Ireland League (AIL) for the first time in its history. I was also shortlisted for the club’s “Man of Steel” award for three consecutive years.

I strongly believe in giving back to the club that has given me so much, and I currently coach the Enniskillen Rugby Club Under-16 side.

I am very grateful to ERGS for helping develop both my passion for rugby and the academic foundations that have supported my career journey.
